Master Bedroom Change pt. 2

*Warning. The first paragraph is a rant about our current situation. Feel free to skip to the next section.*

****Okay, two weeks later... I know I keep saying I'm going to get back into the swing of things. I promise I'm trying. But to be honest, I feel like everything I'm doing with this apartment is pointless. You see, once our lease is up next summer we're moving. There are several reasons for this decision. The main one being money. We signed our lease during a promotion that gave us $64 off each month. With Jordan being the only one working, that $64 off was just the break we needed to get into the 3 bedroom. Having lived here for 12 weeks or so now, we realize that though we got a deal, the apartment, and complex is not worth the discounted price we're paying now. At the end of our lease we will not continue to get the discounted price, and then it really won't be worth it. When it's all said and done, for a bit more money we can get into a house. Secondly, our neighbors. More specifically, our upstairs neighbors. Both apartments. They are terrible, rude, loud, mean people. Both apartments. The one directly above us is the worst. Let me give you a little back story --- When we were in talks with the apartment managers, we were very specific on what we wanted. Mainly, a three bedroom, on the top floor. Luckily for us, that is exactly what they had. We had majority of our talks through email because we were still living in North Carolina. Jordan's parents even went to see the specific apartment. A few weeks go by, we're all moved out of our old house, we've driven 600 miles, we're at the apartment complex. We are handed our lease and are told we have a different apartment. They failed to inform us that they work on a "first come first serve" policy. So here we are, exhausted, with a moving truck, a toddler, a cat, having already paid our deposits, and are being told we're going to be on the middle floor, next to the pool. We were devastated, mad, tired, and screwed. There was nothing we could do. ---  So, here we are, 12 weeks later. There is a family of elephants living above us. The kind that never sleep. Actually, it's what appears to be three women and 8 children. Yeah. In a three bedroom 1050 sq.ft. apartment. Right above us. Oh, and the ladies cuss loudly, scream and beat their children. Yeah. The other apartment upstairs, though not directly above us, like to play music as loud as they possibly can. And beat their wives to the point that the police are called. But it's okay, because we're right next to the pool! (she said sarcastically) Let's just say, I can't wait until all of those brats go back to school. Back to what I was saying, I really don't want to put forth any effort in this apartment. I just want to leave. If we didn't have to pay back the $64 per month, we probably would have tried to leave. (but you know how much moving adds up) I'm counting down the months until we can leave. I look at houses every day. Next summer cannot come soon enough.****

Onto the bedroom! As I mentioned in the previous post. We moved a few things around.

This is the old view from the doorway. Off to the far right is the closet and the not so far right is the half bath.

New view from the doorway. As you can see, we just switched a few things around. This helps balance out the room and it makes more sense with functionality. Now all of the clothes are on one side of the room.

Most of the walls are still empty.

The vanity is between the closet and the bathroom. It's not used hardly at all anymore. But it's a pretty piece of furniture.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do more in here. I want to buy artwork. And I might, but I'm not going to try and find specific pieces for this room.

*Thanks for listening to my rant. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I just want to point out that I have been mad and upset over our situation and I haven't been in the best mindset with it all. But I've tried really hard to move past that. I'm trying to come to terms with it all, and accept that this is our life, our home, our issue, for the next year. I'm trying to make the best of it all. I'm sure I'll have a few slip ups. Especially if I run into the lady upstairs again..... But that's a whole other story. I do have a question though -- Is it rude to leave a note on someones door asking them to please not jump and scream past midnight? -- Cause we were accused of that. Anyway, ahh..... I'm not going to get into all of that.*

What I Wore

Only one of these. I haven't been getting dressed more than an undershirt and shorts before work. I'm blaming it on the heat. I haven't wanted to do anything. There happened to be a break in the heat, and a day off from work. So, nothing fancy, but it's a start.

Master Bedroom Change pt. 1

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Jordan and I are working opposite schedules, so when we get a free moment at the same time we try to spend it together. We've been enjoying time at the pool and shopping at Goodwill for books to fill our bookcases. Story is learning to swim! She still has to use her floaties, but it's pretty awesome all that she can do. She's only been in the big pool a handful of times. She loves the water, so does Jordan apparently, and I have to make them leave before they both get burnt and pruny.

Aside from working and sitting by the pool, I wanted to change the furniture layout in the master bedroom. Our room is 12x18. It's huge and I have no idea how to fill it properly. Our old bedroom was probably 10x12 and had a small closet. We were able to fit a lot of stuff in it, and the room felt crowded, but we didn't have a choice. But here, we do. Jordan has his clothes and dresser in his office, there is a big closet, and I have my own half bath. That means almost everything we had in our old bedroom is in other rooms in the new house.

The bed and one small dresser are the only things that are still in our new bedroom.

This is the view from the door. From this angle the furniture makes okay sense. What you can't see is off to the right is the closet. Across the room from that is the dressers. The side of the bed closest to the closet is Jordan's. All of that made it difficult to find clothes. It's not that far of a walk, but it was unnecessary.

I have the chair in the bedroom as a place where I can sit down and put on my shoes or think about how I want to put an outfit together. Where it was in the room was keeping me from using it, besides throwing random items into it.

I did like how the bed broke up the longest wall. Just like before, I have no idea how to fill the wall.
To make the most sense with the structure of the room, I needed to switch the bed and the dressers. That way all of the clothing will be on one side and the bed will be on the other. My only concern was that the bed would then be on the wall right next to the door.

I started with moving everything off of what will be the main wall. I then moved the bed around until I got it in the right spot. I didn't want it to be too close to the door, but I had to make room for the night stands.

I had a hard time getting everything to fit back under the bed by myself. We took the closet doors off of Story's closet to add more space to her room. And because I didn't like her having a place to hide. Which is something she really likes to do. We also took the doors off of Jordan's closet so he could have more room. They are all under our bed, because it was the only place they could fit.
Once everything was back under the bed I moved the nightstands and the dressers.

There is still a lot to do, on this side of the room alone, but the furniture is in the right place. It makes sense with the floor plan.

I haven't had a chance to finish the other side of the room. The dressers and chair have been placed but I'm still trying to put things away. Mainly things still in boxes. Moving is hard....I feel like by the time I get done setting up here it will be time to pack it all up again. Also, sorry about the tag on the small pillow. I keep meaning to remove it, but I forget and then am reminded when I edit pictures.

So, not a huge change, yet, but here is a little before and after of the bedroom.

Before

After

I'm working on pt. 2. I also have a few things to show you in the dinning room and my office. I really hope it doesn't take me forever to get it done.
