What I Wore

Oh boy. What a week it has been. I'm really glad that holiday mayhem in over. Now just to survive New Year's Eve.

This was my work outfit for Christmas Eve. I didn't have a green shirt so I had to go out after work on Friday and buy a shirt. I got it from Walmart. The sweater I've had forever. Belt is from Forever 21. Work pants are from Old Navy.

Sometimes

Sometimes everything else in life can wait. There are more important events happening, right before your eyes. Sometimes all you need is a glass of hot cocoa, Rudolph on the TV, and your two most favorite people by your side. Sometimes life is perfect :)

What I Wore

What an awesomely busy week! I am so ready for it to be 2012. Maybe then I can slow down a bit. Being sick last week really put a damper on everything. Jordan and I have been scrambling to make up the lost time. I wish the holidays could be chill and fun, instead of insane and miserable. Maybe next year. Maybe next year we'll both have jobs that don't revolve around holiday shoppers and screaming kids. Maybe next year we'll have a real house where we can cook dinner, place a real tree, and not have a hit and run in our own driveway. A girl can dream.

On to the clothes. We went out a few times, but I forgot to take pictures of a couple of the outfits. They weren't anything too great anyway.

I got to hang out with a dear friend of mine I haven't seen in ages. (she works more than me....) We went Christmas shopping and had a chance to catch up.

sweater, boots- Target. jeans- Forever 21. boot socks- Wet Seal. scarf- Walmart

Story and I went to Target. Who am I kidding, Story and I go to Target every day lots of times a week. Can't beat the discount. But after being sick I felt like stepping up my game. I even used my new camera. It still takes blurry pictures, but I'm working on it.

shirt- Old Navy. trouser jeans- Banana Republic. belt- Forever 21. bracelet- World Market

I had curled my hair pretty intense and then didn't like it. So I brushed it out and just went with a pony tail.

shoes- Merona at Target.

I really like these shoes. They are a half size too big. I have to stuff them with a lot of toilet paper. It kind of works, but by the time I take them off my feet really hurt.

Can't wait to show you all of the outfits for next week!!!! We have matching Christmas outfits that are amazing! And the in- laws are coming to visit. My Mother in law is a fashion genius. Going to have to step up my game while she's in town. Can't wait :) :)

Merry Christmas!

What I Wore

I totally skipped one of these. Didn't mean to, but I also didn't take any pictures for that week..... Had some cute outfits but didn't get around to it.

Thanks for the encouragement on the last post :)

We've been staying home a lot this week. Jordan has been sick and Story caught it this week. We did manage to go out once this week. It was to a local restaurant near Story's daycare. We were able to drop her off and enjoy some grown up time.

Button up- George. Sweater- Mossimo. Trousers- Banana Republic. Bracelets- World Market, Kohls. Necklace- Gift

I really liked this layered look. I look forward to trying out similar outfits. When I find something I like I seem to get it in every color I can and just wear the same style over and over again. If it works... :)

I did have a pretty good hair day at work. The picture isn't the best quality, but most of mine aren't anyway. (terrible lighting in my house)

My curls actually looked good. Wish you could tell better in the photo.

And just to show how much it's lightened.....

Okay, last hair picture.... :) And last picture for the week. Turns out I caught the family cold. Didn't realize it until yesterday. Blah.....

Holiday Wreath

I know it's a little late in the season, but I've made a holiday wreath for our front door. I used all materials I had on hand so the project ended up being free.

I started with a small branch wreath and then wrapped with with white yarn.

I wanted the natural wood to show too, so I didn't wrap it all the way.

After I wrapped it until I was satisfied I added part of some garland.

At first I was going to make several circles, but after the first one I thought it was enough. If I had a bigger wreath I probably would have added more. I cut out as much as I needed. I then used the same white yarn to attach it to the wreath.

I then took the moss covered "P" and attached it to the wreath, with the same yarn. I really like how it turned out. To make it not so "Christmas-y" I can just remove the garland.

Quick and easy project. I think it took me about 20 minutes. The hardest part was wrapping the yarn. It took so long!

Hope you like it :)

Changes In The Bedroom

Last week Jordan and I decided to deep clean and change a few things in the bedroom. Once all of the furniture was moved around we took the plunge and changed it all up. It is no where near finished. There were lots of other things that I wanted to tackle but I was called into work. For about a week the room was halfway done. Then at about midnight one night I finished it, to where it is now.

Without further comment...

The before :)

Several things had changed after this picture was taken, but generally speaking this is the old layout.

And, now the Big reveal!!!

Opposite the bed is where I have my reading chair. When I get time to sit, and read, this will be where I come.

There are so many more things that need to be done. I didn't take a picture of Jordan's side, mainly because it was completely unfinished. What I need to do more than anything is finish painting the dressers. I think once they are all that brown/purple it will make the room feel more complete. Hopefully just in time to get new, grown up dressers. :)

So, what do you think? Do you like the new layout?

What I've Been Up To

Things have been slow going on the home front here at the Pike House. We are all busy working and planning. I wanted to show you what I have been up to this week :)

My wonderful Husband got me a new, nicer camera. I'm still learning how to use it properly. For some reason a lot of my pictures are blurry. It's a Coolpix L105. Doesn't have the greatest reviews but it's a step up (I think, once I figure out how to not have blurry photos) from the Lumix I have.

We put up our Christmas tree. It's nowhere near completed. I gave Story free reign on placement of fun ornaments. So, they are all clumped in the front of the bottom half :)

I got to put up the special ones. This will be Story's fourth Christmas. I hope to make it to Kohls this week and pick up a new ornament. We also get a family one each year.

Just a few more decorations. Since we don't have a mantle we are using the bookcase to hold our stockings. I don't really like how busy it looks with all the movies showing. I might try and cover them up, just for the season.

Other than Christmas, I have been thinking more on the gallery wall. I would really like to finish it before Christmas. I have a few frames laying around that I can't wait to hang up.

And nothing would be accomplished without coffee. Even though it's out of season (already!!) I'm still enjoying Pumpkin Spice.

So, just a little look into whats been going on over at our little slice of paradise. How are the Christmas plans coming at your house? Gearing up for family?

p.s. house to-do list coming soon!!!

Fall Storage

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over it's time to pack up all of our fall decorations. I have wanted to do this since the beginning of November but I forced myself to wait (and JP threatened to not put up the tree until December 1st!) But now that the season is over I don't feel so bad packing the stuff up.

We don't have a lot so it's not the greatest post or biggest transformation. Before I moved to N.C. I had just started getting fall decorations. In all the chaos and rush of the move I had to leave it all behind. So, we're starting fresh.

I started with these vinyl rub-ons from Hobby Lobby. I bought these almost 3 years ago, and still have use for them. Probably no deal and I did pay $9.99 for them.

Since I didn't have all of the letters in the big size I had to make it small. Bummer.

Yup, that's it. Inside we have orange and yellow tissue paper, a few ribbons, Halloween shirts for Story and I, pumpkin decorations, and a few pictures.

It's Story dressed up for her first Halloween. She went as a Spider :)

Wow, I'm almost embarrassed to post this...... :) Everyone has a start. Our Christmas bin is bigger, I promise.

What I Wore # 8

Since I've started with the outfit posts I've become a little sadder. I really like fashion. I love the looks a lot of the ladies in blogland have came up with. I have even seen a lot of petite women who haven't let their size stop them from achieving the looks they desire. I'm not one of those women. There are basic facts to me that keep me from being that.

I'm a mom. Not an excuse, just a fact. Motherhood has changed my body, my wallet, and my priorities.
I'm not built the same as I used to be. The clothes that I have pre- baby don't fit me the same, or as well.
I'm pear shaped. Haven't always been.
I'm not over weight but I am not skinny either. I have wide hips and a bigger mid section. This makes finding clothes that I think fit more difficult.
I'm petite. I'm 4'11" and wear a size 4 shoe. Very rarely will a 5 fit, and a 5 1/2 is a surprise.

I really hate how negative I sound. For the most part I am satisfied with how I look. I used to be a lot better at finding clothes that worked for me. It's just become so discouraging. I need to find a middle ground.

But...... on to the clothes for this week.

sweater- Target. scarf- Walmart. vest- Walmart

jeans- Levi's. boot socks- Target

shirt- Kohls. vest- Walmart. necklaces- gifts.

jeans- Old Navy. boots & boot socks- Target

Happy Thanksgiving
The Pikes

sweater- Old Navy. necklace- Body Central, last year. scarf- Walmart

 jeans- Forever21. boots, socks- Target

My hair is finally starting to lighten up..... a bit...... but it is growing nicely.

That's it for the week. We are decorating our Christmas tree today :)
