What I Wore

turtle neck, belt (off another shirt), flats- Target. skirt- Forever 21.

I'm pretty excited at the fact that my hair is staying the lighter color. I was afraid it would darken the more times I washed it. It has slightly, but I still have hopes of lighter hair.

Story wanted a "family picture" :)

skinnies, boots- Target. wrap, scarf- Walmart. shirt- stolen from hubs.

This look is is me trying to see what Story is up to, and why she has a stick.

It's just her attacking me. No big.

I'm sorry in advance about this next round of photos. My computer is a p.o.s. It won't let me update adobe and then in turn will not let me edit my photos. So, they are big and uncropped...

entire outfit (except necklace) Target. necklace- gift.

These are my first pair of "mom jeans" They are extremely high waisted and have a built in tummy control panel. I really like them. They are comfortable.

Changin', Rearrangin'

We recently changed the layout in our Master Bedroom. I liked how most everything turned out. Of course there are still several things that need to be done. The walls are pretty much bare. And we need better storage, much better storage. There was just one spot that was bugging me.

You can't tell from this photo, but the door is right next to the chair. It didn't leave much room to walk, especially if we were both trying to get by. I didn't like how my vanity was in the corner. And that rug. I love the rug, but it catches so much hair, between mine, Story's and the cat's, it was constantly filthy.

Please excuse the mess in the chair. This wall wasn't the only thing changing. More on that later.

I thought if I switched the chair and the vanity it might make a little bit more sense. It would put the vanity very close to where it was in the original layout.

It's still not finished. There is a lot of open wall showing.

Here we have it. The layout works a lot better. There is more room to walk. And the rug is under the chair, not the vanity. I know these pictures are not very pretty and that this isn't a huge reveal or anything.

I decided not to put the chair at an angle in the corner. Instead I moved the pillows around in hope to give the illusion that it was in the corner. I do like how the mirror and small table look. I want the bedroom to have a romantic, vintage feel to it. It's the only room in the house where I am really embracing vintage. i have nothing against it, I'm just terrible at spotting any of the good stuff.

The Van Gogh print is my attempt at combining Jordan's items with all my stuff. I really like the uniform hanging on the wall. It helps to break up all the emptiness.

See what I mean? I know next to the vanity I will be adding some sort of storage. Maybe some open shelving. Maybe a few Ikea spice racks that will hold the hair products. Possibly a better make- up storage and display. Other than that I'm not sure what to add. Any suggestions?

On a different note here. I changed out the bedding.

I really liked the gray and purple with splashes on black, brown and gold. But it was becoming a little heavy for me. I wanted the room to feel lighter, brighter, and if possible, bigger. Please excuse the poor lighting. Some times it feels like we're living in a cave.

The pillows are not going to stay like that. I have plans to cover the body pillow with  cream colored faux fur. I also want to add an actual nightstands to both sides of the bed. And possibly get a new dresser for Jordan.

This Week In Photos

2/19-2/26

Started painting the upper cabinets. And yes, this is all I accomplished all week... The bottom doors still do not have hinges.

Took Story to playschool before work. I had just enough time to stop and grab a grande Mocha Frappucino. So good.

Story  fell and split her lip. It bled for all of 15 seconds. But she milked that boo boo for all it was worth. She made me get a wet washcloth so she could hold it there.

After the pain subsided she was able to help me with some laundry. I just couldn't resist taking a picture of those legs and sweet baby toes....

We had a pretty mild day, on Thursday I think. Story and I did a little shopping. Before we left she had to roll down the hill a few times. She's still learning.

She found a stick and wanted it out the window.

Target's new Signature White Collection. I am in love. And I'll take 4 of everything.

Got my bangs cut. I also had the color stripped from my hair. I will go back soon and do it again. then go back again and color it. I just want my hair to be lighter. Unfortunately it has already darkened a bit in the few times I have washed it...

(sneak peek at WIW)

See, it's already darker.... Really bummed.

What I Wore

Oh boy. It's been one of those weeks... I haven't wanted to do anything other than stay in my jammies and read my Kindle. But Story was having none of that. I had two days off in a row (woohoo!) but I unfortunately had to spend both of them fighting with her over eating. The first day she claimed to be sick so she wouldn't eat. The second day she just flat out refused and chose to spend the evening in bed. By the third day Jordan was home, so she ate, but wan't happy about it.  In the midst of all this I was able to get dressed once, and pretty much just long enough to take a few pictures.

This Week In Photos

2/12-2/17

1. On the ride to work after dropping Story off at Daycare.
2. Story learned now to write her name! Sort of :) But it's still pretty good.
3. Went to see Jordan at work. Saw that someone had hit the front of his car. Good job driving Ma'am.
4. Story and I went on a shopping trip to the mall. She forgot her sunglasses so I let her borrow mine. They were too big and kept falling off. Until she figured out how to make them stay.

5. Absolutely amazing belated Valentine's dinner at Blue. They offer a wonderful Gluten Free menu. I had the Wild Striped Bass. Jordan had the Lamb Tagine. We started with the mussels then followed that with Flavors of the Mediterranean salad with the Barbers 1833 Reserve English cheddar with the honeycomb. By the time we got to our main course we were pretty full and decided to take it home and then squeeze in some dessert. I will have to say though, the food does not reheat well.
6. I forgot my camera but I was able to take one picture of us. Happy Valentine's Day babe :)

Cabinet Update

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Jordan and I had to work opposite schedules so we didn't get a chance to celebrate. We are planning a date later this week. Which is the 3rd week in February ?!?! Where has this month gone? I feel like I haven't had a chance to catch my breath, let alone my housework or painting. We are total slackers over here..... I do have a tiny bit of progress to share with you. Last you saw we had just started painting. Jordan helped me with the rest of the cabinet base while I worked on the doors.

Even though we were both really excited about this project we just didn't have the motivation to get it done. And because the doors were all over the kitchen it made it so we didn't want to do the dishes, or cook. It's been a downward spiral of disgusting self loathing. But my wonderful husband broke the cycle by not only finishing the painting but also doing ALL the dishes. When I came home from work and saw the kitchen I almost started crying. Best Valentine's Day present, EVER!

Enough of the lovey dovey stuff :) We ended up having to buy new hardware for the cabinets. The old ones had been painted over several times and were rusted. I wasn't offended my the gold knobs that were already in place, but Jordan had his heart set on a set that he saw at Target.

They are Target Home. Unfortunately the hinges we picked up didn't work so the doors haven't been hung yet. I just propped this one up on a cereal box.

We decided to go with a handle instead of a knob on the two drawers. We didn't fill in the holes, mainly because when we move out we are going to put the old knobs back on. They were new to the house and we really like ours and want to keep them :)

I think the bottom cabinets have turned out wonderfully. I'm really excited about getting the upper ones done.

We have decided to paint them gray! Hopefully the next stage in the mini kitchen redo won't take as long as the first. But it does feel really good to say that the bottoms ones are finished. And by finished I mean painted. Hey, it's a start. :)

Thanks for being so patient and sticking with me through this. I promise the finished product will be worth it :)
