Fall Storage

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over it's time to pack up all of our fall decorations. I have wanted to do this since the beginning of November but I forced myself to wait (and JP threatened to not put up the tree until December 1st!) But now that the season is over I don't feel so bad packing the stuff up.

We don't have a lot so it's not the greatest post or biggest transformation. Before I moved to N.C. I had just started getting fall decorations. In all the chaos and rush of the move I had to leave it all behind. So, we're starting fresh.

I started with these vinyl rub-ons from Hobby Lobby. I bought these almost 3 years ago, and still have use for them. Probably no deal and I did pay $9.99 for them.

Since I didn't have all of the letters in the big size I had to make it small. Bummer.

Yup, that's it. Inside we have orange and yellow tissue paper, a few ribbons, Halloween shirts for Story and I, pumpkin decorations, and a few pictures.

It's Story dressed up for her first Halloween. She went as a Spider :)

Wow, I'm almost embarrassed to post this...... :) Everyone has a start. Our Christmas bin is bigger, I promise.

What I Wore # 8

Since I've started with the outfit posts I've become a little sadder. I really like fashion. I love the looks a lot of the ladies in blogland have came up with. I have even seen a lot of petite women who haven't let their size stop them from achieving the looks they desire. I'm not one of those women. There are basic facts to me that keep me from being that.

I'm a mom. Not an excuse, just a fact. Motherhood has changed my body, my wallet, and my priorities.
I'm not built the same as I used to be. The clothes that I have pre- baby don't fit me the same, or as well.
I'm pear shaped. Haven't always been.
I'm not over weight but I am not skinny either. I have wide hips and a bigger mid section. This makes finding clothes that I think fit more difficult.
I'm petite. I'm 4'11" and wear a size 4 shoe. Very rarely will a 5 fit, and a 5 1/2 is a surprise.

I really hate how negative I sound. For the most part I am satisfied with how I look. I used to be a lot better at finding clothes that worked for me. It's just become so discouraging. I need to find a middle ground.

But...... on to the clothes for this week.

sweater- Target. scarf- Walmart. vest- Walmart

jeans- Levi's. boot socks- Target

shirt- Kohls. vest- Walmart. necklaces- gifts.

jeans- Old Navy. boots & boot socks- Target

Happy Thanksgiving
The Pikes

sweater- Old Navy. necklace- Body Central, last year. scarf- Walmart

 jeans- Forever21. boots, socks- Target

My hair is finally starting to lighten up..... a bit...... but it is growing nicely.

That's it for the week. We are decorating our Christmas tree today :)

What I Wore # 7

Oh boy. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving! And then it's Black Friday...... Not the best time in our household. JP works at Target. They have him working sooooo much. I'm very proud of him :) On top of it being Black Friday and the busiest day of the year, my wonderful Husband turns 25!!!!!!!!!! We both have to work all weekend so we're hoping to celebrate on Sunday.

I'm so ready to start thinking about Christmas. We have a list for Story already made and we are slowly crossing items off. We're at 3 of like 25 :) I'm also making a list of all the things I would like to get done before the in-laws visit. Putting a deadline on all this is going to be a challenge. Between now and Christmas JP and I are going to be rocked at work....

On to the clothes. Busy busy week, so not very many clothes. I already did a WIW Pinterest Style this week. So, that's one outfit out.

scarf- gift. sweater- Target. tee- Route 66. cords- Loft. shoes- Mossimo.

I really wish you could see them better, but I'm wearing brown corduroy pants. They are thrifted but originally from Ann Taylor Loft. They are petites and are the perfect length. I don't normally wear brown. Mostly because I don't know how to pair it with other colors. Rust and navy are not really stepping out of the box, but it's progress.

necklace- gift. It's made from paper beads.

So old there are no tags, and no memory. jeans- Fragile, I want to say from PacSun. They are at least 6 years old.

I wore this outfit for my husband. When we first met (2006) I was a Senior in high school. I, like majority of the youth in America, was going through a punk stage. I wore a lot of reds and blacks. My make- up was dark and I wore lots of layers. After I had Story I went into full mommy mode. I'm starting to come out of it and get my style back. I really like this outfit, even all these years later (wore it for the first time in 2003!) It doesn't feel "punky" to me, just slightly unusual.

So, that's it for the outfits this week. We will all have coordinating outfits for tomorrow. I'll be sure to get lots of pictures :) Hope you all have a great holiday. See you tomorrow for a late edition of Thursday Threads!

:) :)

WIW Pinterest Style

Like many other bloggers (and non bloggers) I've been addicted to Pinterest. Every chance I get I'm checking to see if anything awesome has been pinned. When I discovered the fashion aspect of it I immediately pinned everything I liked. But I wanted to do more than pin, I wanted to try it out myself.

So, occasionally I will. And will post it for you to check out :)

I recently pinned this outfit. I love everything about it. The colors, layers, hair, everything. I wanted to recreate it so badly. So I did.
Pinned Image

tank- No boundaries
sweater- Target
cardi- Derek Heart
skinny jeans- Levi's
boot socks- Target
scarf- gift
bag- gift

What do you think? The colors are a little different, and mine is not as baggy. Overall I really like this outfit. I felt good in it.

Of course Story wanted to show of her outfit. She picked it out all by herself.

So, what do you think? Should I keep trying? Or are you all sick of the clothes and ready to get back to house stuff?

(house post next, I promise)

Shelf

I've been slacking. There are so many things I would like to finish in the living room. What I need more than anything is a day off. A real day off. Not one where I have to clean the entire house, or nurse a sick baby (which I loved cause she totally cuddled me.) I need to make a trip to Ikea. We've been doing a lot of our shopping at Target, the discount is pretty sweet, but they are still expensive. Maybe Sunday?

On to the little change in the living room.

I added a shelf above the picture.  I'm not sure what I will put up there yet. But for the season it will have Christmas inspired pieces.

A little aerial view for ya. I was standing on the couch.

Good look at the bark pillow.

So, one more thing marked off the list.

Thursday Threads

I've been digging all of the great fashion on Pinterest. I thought I would share with you a few of the styles I hope to try. As I add more pieces to my wardrobe I will start doing a side by side of the outfits :)

Here we go ::

1.
Pinned Image

I really like the care free look of this outfit. I'm a sucker for wrap skirts. I'm unfortunately too short to wear them well, but a girl can dream. Flowing sweaters are something I have always been attracted too. Ah, and the shoes. They look so comfortable!

2.

Pinned Image

Look at that neck! So cozy yet chic. That scarf is amazing. I really like all of the different colors. And the mixed patterns between the scarf and the coat. I really need to attempt to mix patterns. I always chicken out and change last minute.

3.

Pinned Image

Although this is a more summer style I think it could be worn year round. Not the tank alone though :) These sunglasses look great on her face type. Do you have a hard time finding sunglasses that fit your face? I do. I go big and I'm not convinced it's the best look for me.

4.

Pinned Image

I have been buying shirts like this lately. I love that they are flowing but still form fitting. These pants, ahhh :) I don't know what cut they are, but I want a pair just like them.

5.

Pinned Image

When I first pinned this I thought it was the coolest thing ever. The hair is just perfect. I always wish I could have body like this. I want it, but I don't want to get all the product and take the time. So I have flat hair :) Again with the glasses, they look great on her facial structure. I don't think I could pull off that short of a shirt with tights. Mom hips and all. I do really like the sweater, scarf, boot combination.

So, a look into what I would like my style to be. I am a work in progress. And that's okay :)

What I Wore # 6

What a crazy, busy week! Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving? We are still recovering from Halloween. This year has flown by so quickly for us. I haven't even had a chance to think about fall decorations or our Thanksgiving outfits!!! Granted, it's only felt like fall this past week, and the leaves have just now fallen off the trees. It does seem like Thanksgiving is a holiday that's being passed over. I'm not ready for Christmas! I don't even have a list yet!!!

On to the clothes. Like I said, crazy week. Jordan and I have both been working non stop. (and it's about to pay off :) ) I made myself get dressed, even if I was staying home and then changing for work.

Wednesday
Shirt- Body Central

Jeans- Old Navy
Boots- Mossimo

The orange shirt is new from my birthday money from the in-laws. They gave me a gift card to a local mall. I can't remember the last time I was able to go shopping at a mall. Probably last Christmas.... There are a few malls in the Charlotte area. I got to go to the fancier one :)

I wish I would have been able to get a better picture. It's a really pretty shirt. I don't normally go for orange but this rust color reminded me of fall. It's a batwing style and has just enough flow.

Back to wearing my hair straight. It's so much easier. And I haven't felt like doing anything extra this week.

Thursday
Shirt- Miley Cyrus
Pants- Old Navy
Shoes- American Eagle for Payless

Earring- gift from in-laws

Thursdays are usually my weekday off. (I get Sundays too) I picked up the shift this week. Thursdays are vitally important to my sanity I found out. Working that day was rough

Wrap- TJ Maxx

It's my favorite wrap. I've made the mistake of wearing it to work before and now it has bleach on it. But that doesn't compare to what it has on it now...

I was at work for about 20 minutes before I spilled olive oil all over myself. Stained everything I was wearing. There was so much of it it was dripping off my shoes. I had to go back home and change. Luckily for me I only live about 10 minutes away. Wouldn't have happened if I would have had my day off. :) Actually it's just my hands. They've been acting up lately.

After Work Outfit
Sweater- no tag
Sweats- no tag
(my stuff is old)

These are a few of my favorite lounge items. They are warm and perfect for our cool nights.

Friday
Zip Up Sweatshirt- Degrees
Long Sleeve- Mossimo
Scarf- Vanity

This zip up is not my favorite. It's a little too short for my taste and when I sit the zipper sticks out like zipper things do. The hood is the best part. It has a really pretty lace lining. Now that my hair is short I can show it off.

Jeans- Vanity
Shoes- Mossimo

We went to Old Navy so that I could get a new pair of work pants. Every single pair I have has olive oil stains. Typical dressing room picture. I wanted you to see how little I really am. Note where the door handle is in comparison to my body.

Story wanted me to show off what she picked out the wear all by herself.

Love this kid :) :)

Sunday
Sweater- Old Navy
Jeans- Vanity
Necklace- old gift

Boots- Mossimo

I love these boots!!!!!!! They fit perfectly! And I don't walk as loud in them. Yes, I am a loud walker in heels. It sounds like I'm stomping around. These boots are amazing. I got them at Target with birthday money from Grandma Polley. (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!) They look good with all of my jeans and skirts. I wish  I could wear them every day.

Earring- Body Central last year

Sunday we went out to eat with my Dad and Step Mom. We try to spend Sundays with them. We all have such busy schedules, and even though we live close to each other, if we don't set a day aside to spend time together, we'll never see them.

Story and Nina (what she calls my step mom) played dress up :)

Story has been battling a cold all week. Sunday night was the worst though. She had a light fever and couldn't sleep. I spent most of the night either rocking her or cuddling with her in her bed.

Story is feeling much better. She should be back to her normal self in a few days.

We are going to start Christmas shopping later in the week. Will post pictures of our experience. And, a trip to Ikea in the near future :) Story's room is going to get a make over.

Stay Tuned!!!! :)
