Bathroom Update

I don't have a picture to go along with this one yet, because I still have to do the bathroom before and after post. But I just wanted to say that I added a new piece to the bathroom. It's a chrome, over toilet rack. I wouldn't recommend the one that I bought (mainstay from walmart) but I think it adds a nice touch to the room. Our bathroom has been a total work in progress since we moved in. It's finally painted! And I've started adding matching decor. I can't get away from the ugly blue, so I'm trying to embrace it and add a touch of green. I will post pictures soon.

On a different note..... I finally folded all of the laundry!!!!!! It's been piling up for weeks days now. I really hate folding laundry. I don't mind putting it into the washer and then dryer, but something about sorting, folding and hanging really irritates me. But I'm proud of myself, it's all done. Well, all but the hanging. At least you can't see it all anymore (I shoved it all into the closet...)

Also, I made a list. I make lots of lists, all of the time. But this list is about projects and items I would like to get for the house. It's not very long but I have a feeling it's going to take us a few months to get it all done. I don't work as many hours as I used to, so I'm not quite making as much as I did. It's just slowing us down a bit. But I hope to have a garage sale soon. That way we can make a little bit, and de-clutter the attic. The first thing I'm going to work on though is the kitchen. I really want to get some shelves and magnetic strips. That means a trip to Ikea!!! Yay!!! :) :)

I think once all of that is put into place it will be a nice little area :)
So, I will do a before and after of the bathroom soon!!!

The Kitchen: Before and After

Hey everyone!!! Hope you all had a nice night. Story and I went out to dinner with a dear friend of mine. We then went to Target, per Story's request. We got a new bin for our new kitchen island cart. (Thanks again to the in-laws :) )

So, speaking of kitchen, I will do a post about our kitchen and the journey we have taken to get it close to the way we want it. We live in an older house and it hasn't been updated or kept up very well. The landlady is super sweet and if we ever have a problem she'll fix it. But there are a lot of cosmetic issues that we can't fix and can't ask her to fix. So we're dealing.

This is the kitchen after about a 2 months of us all living here.

We quickly unpacked. And then realized we had limited space to cook. Jordan ended up using the washer and dryer as counter tops. The end result being knife marks on the tops. We tried really hard not to use them, but most of the time (I will sadly admit...) the counter top right of the sink is covered in dishes. Not a pretty sight, and something that causes great stress and anxiety on my part. Up until about 2 months ago, I was working 6 nights a week. I didn't have the time or energy to do a lot of housework, or I guess, stay up on the housework. On my 1 day off (which sometimes came once every two weeks) I would scrub every inch of the house. So for that 1 day I was at peace with the kitchen.

This is what it looked like 4 months ago. After living here for 5 months.

Nothing had really changed. I was super excited when I found the little chest. It was at Goodwill. I have no idea what's supposed to be in it, or what to put in it now, but it's super cute :) Our cook books have expanded too. Before I got married I think I had 2 cook books. One was an antique that I would never use, and the other was for sushi. After I got married Jordan's family made us a special cook book. They added family favorites. We love using it :) Jordan is a better cook than I am, but I end up making majority of the meals.

So, this is what we have as of today. I love the changes. Can't wait to do more!

I love this island. We can finally make meals. And it's so cute. Going to get more bins soon. Love Target :)
After a lot of searching I finally added something to the top of the cabinets. I found all of this at thrift stores. Only spent $10!

So, this has been a tour of our kitchen, past and present. There is still so much I want to do. I'm taking a break on it because I want to focus on a few other projects I have going on. I will keep you updated as the changes happen!

Thanks for stopping by!!! :)

Matthews Rental

We signed the lease on our first place together in July of 2010. Story and I lived in the state while Jordan still lived in Indiana. So that gave me several weeks to get things ready before he came for good.  This is what we had to start with.

The wallpaper is all over. The tile is all over as well. And I will add that the floor is blue tile as well, but a different color blue.

There are only 2 counter tops. The other half of the kitchen holds the water heater, washer, and dryer.

The living room is the only room with carpet. The door to the right leads out to the screened in porch.

There are 2 bedrooms. Both of them have a small closet.

* Our house is a duplex. So everything is on one side of the house. We have a hallway that runs the length of the house. Living room is at the front, then kitchen, hallway that leads to both bedrooms and then bathroom at the end.

So, this is what we started with. It took a lot of moving and a ton of time to get everything unpacked. My next post will be a look at what we did after 6 months. :)

Thanks for reading!

The First of Many

I am new to the blogging world. This is something I haven't done since my daughter was an infant. She is 3 now. So much has happened it that amount of time. Hard to believe we've all made it this far.

I am still learning how to work this thing, so bear with me here.

I will start with just a basic background of myself, my family, and our house. My name is Faith. I am a 22 year old wife, mother, and waitress. I am the mother to one wonderful little girl, Story. She is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. We are currently working on potty training. It's taking us a lot longer than we thought it would. But that is a topic of discussion for another time.
I married the love of my life on September 5th, 2010. Jordan and I have been together for a little over 2 years now. He has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. He is such a loving father and a wonderful husband. I would be lost without him. :)

We moved into our first house together in September. We are both from Indiana so this has been a big move for us. Story and I moved to North Carolina in the Spring of 2010. That means Jordan and I spent almost all of our engagement separated.  We have a very supportive family that has helped us every step of the way. They are the best people ever. As much as we would have loved to buy our first house, we are still in the renting stage. My next post will be all about the house!

So, this is a start. More to come soon. Thanks for checking out my blog.
