The Kitchen: Before and After

Hey everyone!!! Hope you all had a nice night. Story and I went out to dinner with a dear friend of mine. We then went to Target, per Story's request. We got a new bin for our new kitchen island cart. (Thanks again to the in-laws :) )

So, speaking of kitchen, I will do a post about our kitchen and the journey we have taken to get it close to the way we want it. We live in an older house and it hasn't been updated or kept up very well. The landlady is super sweet and if we ever have a problem she'll fix it. But there are a lot of cosmetic issues that we can't fix and can't ask her to fix. So we're dealing.

This is the kitchen after about a 2 months of us all living here.

We quickly unpacked. And then realized we had limited space to cook. Jordan ended up using the washer and dryer as counter tops. The end result being knife marks on the tops. We tried really hard not to use them, but most of the time (I will sadly admit...) the counter top right of the sink is covered in dishes. Not a pretty sight, and something that causes great stress and anxiety on my part. Up until about 2 months ago, I was working 6 nights a week. I didn't have the time or energy to do a lot of housework, or I guess, stay up on the housework. On my 1 day off (which sometimes came once every two weeks) I would scrub every inch of the house. So for that 1 day I was at peace with the kitchen.

This is what it looked like 4 months ago. After living here for 5 months.

Nothing had really changed. I was super excited when I found the little chest. It was at Goodwill. I have no idea what's supposed to be in it, or what to put in it now, but it's super cute :) Our cook books have expanded too. Before I got married I think I had 2 cook books. One was an antique that I would never use, and the other was for sushi. After I got married Jordan's family made us a special cook book. They added family favorites. We love using it :) Jordan is a better cook than I am, but I end up making majority of the meals.

So, this is what we have as of today. I love the changes. Can't wait to do more!

I love this island. We can finally make meals. And it's so cute. Going to get more bins soon. Love Target :)
After a lot of searching I finally added something to the top of the cabinets. I found all of this at thrift stores. Only spent $10!

So, this has been a tour of our kitchen, past and present. There is still so much I want to do. I'm taking a break on it because I want to focus on a few other projects I have going on. I will keep you updated as the changes happen!

Thanks for stopping by!!! :)

    1. Thanks! The kitchen was the first thing I fixed up at that house, and the last project I finished there :)
