Town Brown House Tour : The Before, part 2

We recently moved into a cute little house. In the last post I showed you the foyer, formal living room, family room, eat-in kitchen, laundry nook, and remodeled garage. Now, on to the bedrooms and bathrooms!

When you walk in the front door, to the right of the foyer is the hallway. It's pretty narrow. On the left is the hall bath, water heater closet and master bedroom. On the right is Finley's room, linen closet and Story's room.

The hall bath is the first door you come to in the hall.

Looking into the bathroom from the hall

The vanity cabinet, medicine cabinet and lights we think are original to the house.

Next is Finley's room. It's a smaller room, 10x10, but it does have a closet, so that helps.

Entering the room from the hall. The closet is to the left.

That door leads into the closet

Looking back into the hall. The master bedroom is across the hall and so is the water heater closet.

Between Finley's room and Story's room is a small linen closet.

Next you'll enter into Story's room.

Across from Story's room is the master bedroom. It also has a full bath attached.

From here you can see a bit of the linen closet and then Finley's room

The floor has been recently updated in here.

We think the sink, lights, and mirror are all original to the house

So, that concludes the tour! We are super excited to work on fixing it up! We've made a little bit of progress, but as you can imagine, it's a never ending job. I have a few updated photos that I'll share after the holidays. We've remodeled a few rooms and are mostly unpacked. I'll also have a short term and long term list!

Finley Jane : Eighth Month

Week Thirty One

Week Thirty Three

Week Thirty Four

Weight/Length
We didn't go to the doctor again this month. If I had to guess, I'd say she's still gaining weight at a steady pace. I'd say maybe 17.5 pounds and 27 inches long.

Sleep
She is still waking up 2-3 times a night. She likes to take about three naps a day. Most of the time, they're on the shorter side, but sometimes she'll sleep for about an hour each time.

Eating
She is now eating stage 3 foods. We don't do a whole lot of baby food though. She will eat just about anything we're eating. She likes to have a bite in her mouth and two more bites ready in each hand. When she wants more, she'll pound on her tray until we give her another bite. We are still nursing! During the day, she nurses every two hours or so. She still will get the occasional bottle of formula. Especially if I'm going to be gone for an extended period of time.

Diapers
We are in a size 3. I heard this is the size they stay in the longest. I had a case of Pampers that I had purchased before she was born. We've been using those, but once they run out we'll be switching back to Luvs.

Clothing
Baby girl is all over the place when it comes to clothing. I finally packed up her 3 month (and under) clothing and got out the 6-9 box. She is still wearing 6 month clothing. A few 6-9 pieces fit. She hates shoes and will kick  them off almost instantly. I think she's finally in a size 1.

Mood
She is the sweetest baby! She loves to cuddle and give kisses. She is extremely sensitive and you can easily hurt her feelings. She is very stubborn and does not like being told no. She finally cut two teeth, so her mood has been a bit sour during that time.

LOVES
crawling
pulling up
bath time
talking
eating
her rubber duck
being upside down

DOESN'T LOVE
getting in her carseat
being told no

What I want to Remember
how she rubs her eyes when she's tired
the way she says "ma-ma"
her little smile
watching her stand
her giggles
how much she loves her sister

Milestones
2 teeth
pulling up on furniture
saying "ma-ma" "ba-ba" "da-da" "huh" "hi"
responding her her name
playing peek-a-boo

Now That Life Is Slowing Down

Look at this! A post that's not about the baby! It's a small step in the right direction. I don't want to get in to a super detailed account of everything. You know, privacy and all. I feel like every other post I have is some dramatic or life changing event. That's because we live the most dramatic life possible. I kid,.... mostly. You see, we're pretty much living an entirely different life now. Like, new careers, new house, new city. The works. Let's just say we've had a very interesting last six months. We've finally settled in, and settled down.

On to the fun stuff!!! We left the townhouse. And I'm very happy to inform you, we live in AN ACTUAL HOUSE. The real kind, yard and all. It's been so much fun working on it. I have a ridiculous amount of ideas I can't wait to get started on. My plan is to blog about it. I mean, really blog about it. It's going to be so exciting.

Let me introduce you to our new digs: The Town Brown

It is a 1400sqft, single story home. It sits on a 0.45 lot. Which is an enormous yard considering we live in a town. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, formal living room, family room, eat-in kitchen and a remodeled garage. It is just about the perfect house for our family.

Just to clarify: These are all photos of the house before we started any kind of remodel.

When you walk in the front door, you enter into the foyer. It has a cute little coat closet. To the left is the formal living room. Straight ahead is the family room and sliding door. To the right is the hallway leading to the bedrooms and bathrooms.

This is your view when you walk in and look slightly left

Looking toward the front door from the family room. You can see the formal living room off to the right

Looking at the front door from the formal living room

A better view of the entire foyer from the family room.

Once you are in the foyer, the first thing you notice is the formal living room. It's a really decent sized room that has the most amazing front window.

Looking into the room from the foyer

Again, looking into the room from the foyer.

The next thing you see is the family room. I really like how you can see the family room from the front door, but it's not front and center. You only get a glimpse of it. The family room also has a sliding glass door that leads onto the concrete patio. It has a great view of the back yard.

Looking in the room from the foyer/hallway. Sorry for the blurry photo. I didn't have my camera

These are two closets that are on the wall leading into the kitchen. You can see the entrance to that off to the right of the photo.

The view entering the room from the hallway

Looking from the kitchen. You can see the double closets and then the entrance from the hall.

Looking from the kitchen. That is the sliding glass door. Part of it anyway.

From the family room you enter the kitchen. It's a really good sized room, mainly due to the fact that it is meant to be an eat-in kitchen. Personally, I think it's too small to be a kitchen and a dining room. There just isn't enough room for a decent sized table and room to cook in.

Entering from the family room looking to the right.

Looking from the laundry nook toward the family room. The eat-in part is off to the right. I'm kicking myself for not getting a photo of it!

Off to the side of the kitchen is a small laundry nook. It's really just a wall, a pass through leading from the garage to the kitchen or out the back door.

 This door leads outside.

This is the entrance to the remodeled garage.

The previous tenants converted the garage into a bonus room. They had planned on turning it into an apartment, but it does not have heat/air. We're turning it into Jordan's office.

I'll show you the bedrooms and bathrooms in another post. This one is long enough as it is! We're very excited about this next step in our journey. If all goes according to plan, we'll be here for the foreseeable future! I know I've said that several times now. Actually, more that I'd like to admit. But this is the real deal people. This is home.

Growing Out Pixie : The Third and Fourth Month

Hey guys. I cut all my hair off. I'm documenting the progress of growing it back out again. You can check out previous months here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we are! I haven't looked at these in a long time. Honestly, I have no idea what month I'm in. Ha. But pretty sure I'm finishing up the fourth month. So, let's take a look back.

So, it is growing! I really felt like in this last month it wasn't growing very much. I went in for a trip, and it just didn't feel like it was any different. Since then, it's gotten a lot longer. I can't wait to see how much here soon. I don't wear it straight and flat like this ever .

Finley Jane : Seventh Month

Week Twenty Six

Week Twenty Seven

Week Twenty Eight

Week Twenty Nine

Week Thirty

Weight/Length
We don't go back to the doctor for a couple more months, so I don't know her exact weight and height. I'm going to guess a little over 16 pounds and probably 26 inches. She's been gaining about a pound a month these last few. She is still petite, but a chunker for sure!

Sleep
Still in bed around 9:00. Normally up around midnight to nurse. Sometimes we make it until four or six, to be nursed again. And then back asleep until 8:00. She has been taking about an hour nap, 3 times a day.

Eating
Baby girl still loves to eat. She doesn't care if it's finger food or spoon fed. She has calmed down a bit with the nursing. We still give a bottle every once in a while. She likes it.

Diapers
We are finishing up the size 2 diapers. Since she can sit up really well, we have had more blow outs in the back.

Clothing
She is starting to wear more 6 month clothing. Mostly 3-6 month still. She hasn't really outgrown anything lately. So that's nice.

Mood
So last month she learned how to sit up (5.5 months) That really helped her mood. She was tired of laying down and wasn't getting anywhere on her stomach. This month her mood has improved greatly. She learned how to crawl!!! 6.9 months old and crawling all over the place. She is in to everything and loving it. She has such a temper though. When she is told "no" or is moved away from her goal, she will throw a tantrum. Screaming, crying, the works. She really enjoys yelling, and talking when others are trying to have a conversation.

LOVES
crawling
sitting up
trying to climb up things
exploring her surroundings
waving
saying "huh"
bath time (splashing)
playing with her toys
eating

DOESN'T LOVE
getting her diaper changed
being told "no"
sitting still

What I Want To Remember
her little face when she looks at me
how excited she was to start crawling
her noises
the way she waves
her laugh
water droplets on her face
how she rubs her eyes when she's sleepy
the couple of long hairs she has
