Matthews Rental

We signed the lease on our first place together in July of 2010. Story and I lived in the state while Jordan still lived in Indiana. So that gave me several weeks to get things ready before he came for good.  This is what we had to start with.

The wallpaper is all over. The tile is all over as well. And I will add that the floor is blue tile as well, but a different color blue.

There are only 2 counter tops. The other half of the kitchen holds the water heater, washer, and dryer.

The living room is the only room with carpet. The door to the right leads out to the screened in porch.

There are 2 bedrooms. Both of them have a small closet.

* Our house is a duplex. So everything is on one side of the house. We have a hallway that runs the length of the house. Living room is at the front, then kitchen, hallway that leads to both bedrooms and then bathroom at the end.

So, this is what we started with. It took a lot of moving and a ton of time to get everything unpacked. My next post will be a look at what we did after 6 months. :)

Thanks for reading!

  1. I am trying so hard not to go ahead your next post! I can wait until tomorrow, right? That little place is adorable and quirky, as old homes go. That's what I love about them! It causes us to be creative, doesn't it? Especially when we're young and just starting out on our own. Love! It reminds me so much of my own experience.

  2. Good Morning Faith, I am really looking forward to seeing how you created a home from a shell of a house. I am much older than you and have moved many times, I have moved from big houses to small houses, depending on which country we have lived in and sometimes it has been like pouring a pint of milk into a half pint jug, but I have always managed it. As this is your first home together, you will always remember it fondly. My first home had a small kitchen, a living room, 1 bedroom and a bathroom....it was like a shoe box, but I loved it. I look forward to tomorrows post. Have a lovely day, Best Wishes Daphne
