Master Bedroom Change pt. 1

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Jordan and I are working opposite schedules, so when we get a free moment at the same time we try to spend it together. We've been enjoying time at the pool and shopping at Goodwill for books to fill our bookcases. Story is learning to swim! She still has to use her floaties, but it's pretty awesome all that she can do. She's only been in the big pool a handful of times. She loves the water, so does Jordan apparently, and I have to make them leave before they both get burnt and pruny.

Aside from working and sitting by the pool, I wanted to change the furniture layout in the master bedroom. Our room is 12x18. It's huge and I have no idea how to fill it properly. Our old bedroom was probably 10x12 and had a small closet. We were able to fit a lot of stuff in it, and the room felt crowded, but we didn't have a choice. But here, we do. Jordan has his clothes and dresser in his office, there is a big closet, and I have my own half bath. That means almost everything we had in our old bedroom is in other rooms in the new house.

The bed and one small dresser are the only things that are still in our new bedroom.

This is the view from the door. From this angle the furniture makes okay sense. What you can't see is off to the right is the closet. Across the room from that is the dressers. The side of the bed closest to the closet is Jordan's. All of that made it difficult to find clothes. It's not that far of a walk, but it was unnecessary.

I have the chair in the bedroom as a place where I can sit down and put on my shoes or think about how I want to put an outfit together. Where it was in the room was keeping me from using it, besides throwing random items into it.

I did like how the bed broke up the longest wall. Just like before, I have no idea how to fill the wall.
To make the most sense with the structure of the room, I needed to switch the bed and the dressers. That way all of the clothing will be on one side and the bed will be on the other. My only concern was that the bed would then be on the wall right next to the door.

I started with moving everything off of what will be the main wall. I then moved the bed around until I got it in the right spot. I didn't want it to be too close to the door, but I had to make room for the night stands.

I had a hard time getting everything to fit back under the bed by myself. We took the closet doors off of Story's closet to add more space to her room. And because I didn't like her having a place to hide. Which is something she really likes to do. We also took the doors off of Jordan's closet so he could have more room. They are all under our bed, because it was the only place they could fit.
Once everything was back under the bed I moved the nightstands and the dressers.

There is still a lot to do, on this side of the room alone, but the furniture is in the right place. It makes sense with the floor plan.

I haven't had a chance to finish the other side of the room. The dressers and chair have been placed but I'm still trying to put things away. Mainly things still in boxes. Moving is hard....I feel like by the time I get done setting up here it will be time to pack it all up again. Also, sorry about the tag on the small pillow. I keep meaning to remove it, but I forget and then am reminded when I edit pictures.

So, not a huge change, yet, but here is a little before and after of the bedroom.

Before

After

I'm working on pt. 2. I also have a few things to show you in the dinning room and my office. I really hope it doesn't take me forever to get it done.
