Spray Painted Giraffe Heads

Back in the summer I picked up a pair of giraffe heads at Goodwill. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do with them but I imagined them a fun color, possibly in the bathroom. Maybe as a towel holder.

They were sort of beat up. I knew that I would be painting them so it didn't really matter. I sanded them a bit just to rough up the paint.

I then lightly sprayed them with a bright white primer.

I liked how they looked just white so I decided to cover them with a white spray paint. Jordan pointed out that the hole was too big for a rod and wouldn't work very well as a towel holder. I was still convinced that I wanted them in the bathroom. We decided just to hang them on the wall as a decorative piece.

I really like how they turned out in the bathroom. I think they will be able to be used in our next bathroom or other places in the house. The best part is they can be painted any color I choose.

I'll be back with more bathroom related posts later this week. Stay tuned. I hope to have a full reveal by next week. You can see the other bathroom related post here.

  1. Love them and their quirkiness. The white redo you gave them really stands out against the gray wall. Nice! I believe your giraffe heads are a pair of scarf holders - the long decorative curtain-toppers that used to be hung above windows back in the 1980's and 1990s. I have a pair of scarf hangers, although not giraffes. Now I use mine as mini wall shelves on which small statutes stand. Because the scarves were often quite wide, the holes through which the scarf ends were fed on either side of the window at the top of or adjacent to the woodwork had to be wide enough to shove the material through, and then it hung down on either side of the window (depending on its length) and draped across the top of the window, sort of like a valance. Glad to see those scarf holders "repurposed."
