That's right! After a few months of half-heartedly painting on a few cabinets I can now say they are finished! Woo, hoo. I'm not sure what took me so long to complete this project. I was excited, motivated, and amply supplied. But the job just kept getting pushed off. I updated a few times ( here, here) and even rearranged the kitchen. I finally kicked myself hard enough to pull out the brushes until it was completed. Sadly enough, it's only one side of the kitchen that is finished. In my tiny defense, I haven't decided what color I would like to do the remaining cabinets. they are all upper ones and do not necessarily have to match the already painted ones.
So, here is the finished project!
Please excuse the grainy- ness of the photo. We live in a duplex that has windows on one side. Makes taking pictures of that particular side difficult. I am by NO means a good photographer, so this is the best I can do.
The cabinet doors are warped and will not close. We are still working on trying to fix that. I think it's a lost cause. The knobs are from Target and the black hinges are from Lowes.
I didn't edit the colors here, so you get a truer view of the gray. The black knobs are from Lowes. We didn't have to replace the hinges on the upper cabinets, so they were painted gray.
Here is a before and after shot so that you don't have to scroll back up.
I really like how the kitchen turned out! The colors are great and I think it makes the place look larger and maybe newer?
I don't know if I want to paint the other side gray or blue.
I wish I could find an updated picture. But the layout is the same. I think the blue would be a lot of fun. But the owners might like the subtle ness of the gray. In usual fashion, I will sit on the idea for a while.
One last shot of the new cabinets :)

playing dress up
When I break a nail, I break it hard...
Got my car inspected and then got North Carolina licenses plates.
I have missed chicken noodle soup and crackers. Yum.
Switching out the winter for summer clothes.
Attempted a collage, that didn't work out. But we went to the Randolph Mint Museum. So many wonderful things there.
Jordan in front of the bamboo structure. I told him to close his eyes because the sun was too bright.
Bamboo Structure.
Our first grill!
Sweet sick baby.

What I Wore
tee- Gift. cardi- Target. pants- Old Navy. shoes- TOMS
Only one outfit this week. I spent most of the week with a sick baby. Got a lot accomplished around the house. But didn't have the opportunity to get dressed a whole lot. And when I say dressed, I mean dressed to impress. Ha, no nudies around here.
Words : Your, You're. Their, There, They're. It's not hard. Just take a moment to think about it. Oh, and lose, not loose. Don't do that.
Fear : Confrontation. If you even just honk at me, my heart is pounding and I feel like I'm going to throw up.
Childhood : I traveled to 49 states before I was in Junior High. Pretty cool adventures.

New Kitchen Layout
We are still plugging away at painting the cabinets. The top cabinets are almost finished. I'm having a hard time deciding about the vinyl wall quote. I don't know whether to keep it there or use a stencil on the top. With all the kitchen stuff on the brain I decided I wanted a change in here. I had originally wanted to turn a small corner into a coffee bar area. We had it set up like this for a while, but it just wasn't working for us. So I changed it, and pretty much everything else in the kitchen.
I created an "L" shaped island out of our two pieces of (mismatched) furniture. ( Jordan is on the "don't paint wood" bandwagon. I think the dark cabinet would look great the same blue as the cabinets) I moved the Ikea island away from the wall to create more wall space, and work space. It's been pretty difficult for two people to use the island at the same time. Especially when one is left handed.... With it off the wall it creates two separate stations. It also gave me enough room to add the coffee bar. Another bonus is that I didn't have to hang any more shelves. I just reworked the shelves.
I really enjoyed putting this area together. I wanted it to be fun and quirky. The hanging cows are probably my favorite. I do plan on adding a few more frames.
By moving the coffee bar I opened up the wall next to the fridge.
I decided to move the pantry cabinet from next to the washer and put it next to the fridge. This placement makes sooooo much more sense. -We had to put the pantry next to the washer when we first moved in because we also had a dryer. When we decided to get a front load washer we knew we wanted to get a matching set. With the outlets and pipe placements we couldn't move them around, in turn, blocking the entrance to the hallway. We opted to hold off on buying the dryer.- Which brings me back to having extra room next to the fridge. Where I put the pantry, leaving space next to the washer. And here is where I will put the family command center I've been wanting to have, and an official place for the vacuum, mop and broom.
I think the room is coming together nicely. very excited about the new layout. It has taken some time to get used to the island sticking out. We have to make bigger turns now :) The cabinets should be finished this week. Hopefully tomorrow! I can't wait to show you all how great that side of the kitchen looks!

This Week In Photos {3}
2/26-3/4
We went to this awesome Mexican restaurant. They actually make the guacamole at your table.
Story and I had a game night while Daddy was at work. We played a SpongeBob matching game followed by CandyLand
Story and I decided to make our own pizzas. She wanted to put carrots, mushrooms, prosciutto and salami on hers.
Ended with a night at work.
