Bathroom : Before & After

As promised I have all of the pictures to do the before and after on the bathroom!!!!
Let me just remind you all of what we had to start with...

Yep... this is what we moved into. The landlady even brought over the rug and toilet seat cover. They didn't last long. If you look very closely, or maybe not that closely, I can see it right away but that's because I've been staring at it for almost a year now..., you can see that the blue tile on the walls do not match the blue and white tiles on the floor. They are just off enough that I can't seem to find a blue that will work. That's why I'm going with green. But more on that later.

This is what I ended up with. It's awful, I know. This was the theme I had in my old bathroom. It all matched, I even painted the walls the same color. Looking back, it was pretty horrible too. But anyway, the bathroom stayed like this until about a month and a half ago. I finally couldn't take it any longer. I kept telling myself it would all look better when it was painted (and it did) but then I finally decided that it didn't have to wait. So all I did was get a white shower curtain and rug. It made a HUGE difference. And it was enough, for about a week.

My dad does painting on the side. He agreed to come over and paint the bathroom for us. Thankful he did it, but man... what a mess!! He got paint everywhere. Shower curtain, tub, shampoo bottles, rug, floor, sink, mirror, robe. He even got  paint on the rug I had just gotten that day, a living room rug. But the room was painted. After all of the cleaning and replacing, this is what we have.

It's white. I mean, really white in there. It makes the room look so much bigger.  I would like to point out a few things though. The new over the toilet rack : it was the cheapest one I could find, and it's poorly made. I'm afraid the whole thing is going to topple over. And it probably will as soon as someone uses it. Everything is just kind of put on it right now. I'm going to get a few canisters to hold the toiletry items. I think it will make it look neater and more put together. I got the blue vase today at Goodwill. $1.99 score. Moving on to the sink area : you can't tell, but it's cracked. Yeah, it was brand new when we moved in. Remember me telling you we had our bathroom painted? He's the one who did it. (Love you Dad! But don't come in the bathroom again!) Oh yeah, see the tiny white rug in front of the sink? He stained it, the day I got it. (which wasn't the day he painted.) Enough on that :) That's the blue I tried to get to match the other 2 blues. I thought if I went darker it would tie it all together. I was horribly wrong... But I did find this really cute rug, Better Homes and Gardens for $12. A little too expensive for my tastes, but it's really soft. I think the green will help with the awful pink?! tile.
I still have to replace the toilet seat. I got hair color, all over everything. (I guess I know where I got the messiness from... :) )
No. That is paint.

But I like me some color :)

So, that's our bathroom. For now. I don't know what else I want to do. I'm really just sick of the whole thing. But, it's progress. Any ideas on what I should do to make it look better? Shoot them my way :)

  3. I really liked the theme I had in the old bathroom, it was just so matchy matchy. OMG, if I spend over $10 I feel guilty for ever. :) I have the same shirt in 4 different colors. I got them at Wal-Mart last year for like $3 each. I wear them all the time. :) :)

  4. Such an improvement! I had pink tile in my bathroom I had to work with and we lived with it for 7 years until we put the house up for sale. Only then did we finally paint the tile white. :)
